Introduction
Located on the north bank of the River Thames in the prestigious W2 district, Globe House serves as a hub for some of the world’s most prominent brands. To ensure the smooth operation of this high-profile CBRE-managed property, efficient logistics are essential. All deliveries arrive at the basement loading bay, where they must be quickly and safely transitioned for distribution throughout the building.
Problem
The primary logistical challenge at Globe House involved the vertical gap between the basement ground level and the loading dock level. Transporting heavy goods, trolleys, and sack trucks across this 1000mm height difference manually or with inadequate equipment created a bottleneck. This gap posed a safety risk to personnel and threatened the efficiency of the building’s vital delivery chain.
Solution
To bridge this gap, Edmolift designed and installed a custom 1000kg capacity low-rise goods lift featuring adjacent entry and exit points. The installation is designed for maximum security, featuring a single-hinged, travelling, interlocked gate and a double-wing, interlocked gate at the upper level. To ensure the safety of the surrounding area, the lift pit is fully protected by a durable galvanised chainmail skirt.
Results
The new system allows for the secure and rapid movement of goods, drastically improving the workflow within the basement loading bay. The entire project from initial delivery to final sign-off was completed in less than two days, providing CBRE with a high-performance solution with minimal site disruption. Globe House now benefits from a safe, streamlined distribution process that meets the demands of its world-class tenants.
